Straight Talk Review: It's Cheap, But Is It Worth It?
Table of Content
Its cheapest plan, which costs $15 a month, already comes with 5 GB of 5G or 4G LTE data plus unlimited calls and texts. Its most expensive plan only costs $30 a month, and it includes unlimited calls, texts, and high-speed data. As for Straight Talk’s unlimited data plans, they’re not absolutely unlimited, which is the case for most network carriers anyway.
You can pay for the phone in full, but they also offer 24-month financing on some devices if you’d rather not pay upfront. Plus, you can get up to $100 off on some smartphones. They don’t offer 0% financing, though, so that’s also something to consider. $51 GB of extra mobile data$102 GB of extra mobile dataIf you run out of data before your monthly plan ends, you can always purchase an add-on plan for as low as $5. The data usage for the add-on starts after you’ve consumed the data budget of your active service plan. You can purchase as many add-ons as you want, and any unused data will be carried over to the next month.

Claim your profile to access Trustpilot’s free business tools and connect with customers. They charge for expedite shipping of their new verizon sim, send it a week later after I already moved. That means you can switch to a different plan or cancel your service any time you want, and it won’t cost you anything.

I hung up and decided to try again the next day. When I tried the next morning, mysteriously my new phone had the transfer pin in it and was working. It should be able to happen within a very short period.
This is the worst cell phone
The annual plan costs $495, which works out to be $41.25 per month. However, I recommend signing up for a 30-day plan first to make sure Straight Talk’s service will work for you. For example, the basic phone plan is for flip phones only and does not work with smartphones. Straight Talk Wireless also offers a prepaid home internet service in addition to 10 different prepaid wireless phone plans ranging from 30 days to a full year. Plans cost as little as $30 per month, but that price is available only for flip phones . I ordered a Sim card from straight talk, with the unlimited international plan, and chose the 1-2 day shipping for 4.95 extra.
Although this speed can already be considered decent enough , it still doesn’t compare to the data speeds of other MVNOs, which are at an average of 8 to 10 Mbps. Straight Talk has a handful of plans you can choose from, and you can purchase them either through their website or through Walmart. They have monthly and extended plans , as well as unlimited and fixed plans, so it’s easy to find a plan that works best for you. The telecom industry has long been dominated by big-name operators. But more recently, the demand for mobile virtual network operators has been on the rise.
Slow Data Speeds
If you think you want to switch to Straight Talk, I recommend trying out a 30-day plan first. Then, if the service works for you, you may consider a 90-day, 180-day or 365-day plan. That will give you time to test out the service in your area, and if there are any issues, you aren’t out the full price of a plan with a longer service period.

They are SEVERELY hampered by STs MORONIC rules! They can basically do nothing to help you because either ST doesn't give them the tools they need or ST would fire them for breaking their ridiculous rules. Everyone I chatted with online was super nice and as helpful as they could possibly be, and apologetic when I hit that stupid wall. If this review sounded enraged, it is because I am. Don't go with ST. It is where your phone number will go to die. Straight Talk is ideal for cellphone users that do not want to commit to lengthy contracts.
I Tried To unlock My Phone And They Did…
Straight Talk and Net10 Wireless are operated by the same parent company, TracFone Wireless, and both run on all four major network carriers. Net10 Wireless’s cheapest plan starts at $20 and offers 2 GB of mobile data with unlimited calls and texts. Straight Talk’s service plans are considerably much cheaper than those of other MVNOs. For $45, you already get 25 GB of data per month, whereas with other operators, a 45-dollar plan usually only gets you 4 GB to 20 GB of data per month.
After several attempts to replace sim card to no avail, we were told to send the phone back for replacement. ComplaintsBoard.com is a leading complaint resolution website on the Internet. There are no hidden fees with Straight Talk, and there is no cost to activate your plan. While Straight Talk does not have a specific family plan, it makes it easy to add lines to your existing service. Straight Talk’s customer service is, well, not so straight talkin’. But for most people, coverage won’t be a huge problem, especially if you live in a metropolitan area, since those will be covered by all major networks.
Had to $25 to return it even though they sent me a defective phone. I also had to purchase a new plan for both phones even though I had already paid for a plan on my existing phone that stopped working. I only get internet on wifi and rarely have service for calls or texts. Every time I contact customer service I get transferred to at least 3 or more people and get discounted multiple times when a rep says they're transferring me.

And for those who are, there’s also an unlimited data option. Straight Talk keeps its prices down by using existing cell towers from other companies. While this definitely helps Straight Talk stay more affordable (yay!), it also means you’ll have to do without a few bells and whistles. That means reduced data speeds and no family plan deals. Overall, if you’re looking for cheap plans and don’t use mobile data that much, Straight Talk is well worth trying out.
Was forced to replace because the 3G network will soon be shut down. Like any good buffet, Straight Talk has a deal for grandma and grandpa, too. The cheapest plan from Straight Talk will give you 1,500 minutes, unlimited texts, and 100 MB of data. Perfect for those who use the internet mainly for email and who aren’t streaming Spotify or Snapchatting. When I spoke to April at customer service, she was extremely rude and would not help me with my issue.

Data is one of the biggest concerns that people have when switching to a prepaid carrier. Straight Talk works like most other major cellphone companies but doesn’t require long-term contracts. You can purchase the latest phones or keep your own to take advantage of the company’s clear and consistent nationwide coverage. Plans include unlimited talk and text and high-speed data.
